AI for Canadian agri-food businesses

Buyers and regulators want more records every year. Growers and processors need forecasts that account for weather and season.

Projects

Where AI pays off first in agri-food

Demand forecasting

Today. Production plans are based on last year and the latest phone call.

After. Forecasts by product and customer use your order history, season and promotions.

Traceability records

Today. Lot and supplier records are pulled together by hand when a buyer asks.

After. Lots are traced from supplier to shipment, and records are ready on request.

Food safety records

Today. Checks and logs are kept on paper and filed for inspections.

After. Checks are recorded as they happen, and missed ones are flagged the same day.

Production planning

Today. Plans are rebuilt in a spreadsheet each week.

After. Plans update from forecasts, inventory and line capacity.

Example project. A produce packer rebuilds its weekly plan by hand. The first project forecasts demand by customer, so the plan starts from the forecast. This is an illustration, not a client.

Questions

Common questions

Can this help with food safety audits?

Yes. Recording checks as they happen means audit records are already complete.

We are seasonal. Does forecasting still work?

Yes. Seasonal patterns are what forecasting models handle best, as long as there are a few seasons of history.
